Summer Reading 2020
Hello Ross Woodward Parents & Guardians!
This is the time of year I usually visit each classroom and talk about the importance of reading over the summer. I usually tell students about the “summer slide” and let kids know that reading over the summer is one of the most important things they can do to make sure they don’t lose the skills that they worked so hard to gain over the school year. Wow, is this year different! While it is still true that reading will help them keep their mental muscles fit, please let your children know that reading over the summer is even more important than ever.
Reading can help students explore new places – real and imaginary. Reading can help students feel connected even when they are feeling alone. Reading can help answer questions about topics like sharks, the weather, or even ancient pyramids. Reading can help students learn about the beginnings of our country and understand current events today. Reading can help kids find their voice.
Please encourage your children to read this summer! This year the program is virtual and students can log reading digitally.
